Carte Blanche Pinot Noir Sun Chase Vineyard 2018
100% Pinot Noir. Nicholas Allen has wine in his blood. His great grandfather is none other than Clarence Dillon, the financier whose love of French wine convinced him to purchase the legendary estate, Chateau Haut-Brion, in 1935. Nicholas was destined to end up in the wine industry and in 2007 it happened with the start of Carte Blanche. The core of Carte Blanche's wine-producing philosophy is to respect the terroir in each wine, thus accepting the responsibility to honor what the earth has given us. In early 2014, Carte Blanche continued its commitment to that mantra in welcoming Helen Keplinger as their new winemaker. (Helen used to work at the Napa cult winery Bryant Family also we love her own wines, Keplinger and Vermillion labels). Sun Chase vineyard sits high atop the Petaluma Gap, taking in much of what the Pacific Ocean and sun have to offer. Rocky and gravelly Goudling series clay loam soils provide the perfect home for Pinot Noir. The 2018 wine is a complex, nuanced, and incredibly silky wine. It's a wine full of personality and style, like a fashion designer. It is also a typical Carte Blanche, a beautiful wine that respects the terroir.
