Jean Philippe Fichet Meursault Chevalieres 2010

Jean Philippe Fichet Meursault Chevalieres 2010

100% Chardonnay. A producer that would be as famous as Leflaive or Coche Dury if they owned more famous vineyards. Fichet makes exquisite wines of elegance and precision. More than any of his peers, Fichet is testing the limits of transparency, to find the very soul of Meursault’s terroirs. It was Meursault’s destiny to have its soils revealed in this way: their intense stoniness is magnified by an exceptionally low water table, forcing the vines’ roots deep underground. The wines that Jean-Philippe Fichet is making today have few rivals for their class in Burgundy, and they could be unmatched in their transparency and expressiveness.

Tasting Notes
"Bright, light yellow. Reticent aromas and flavors of lemon, grapefruit and quinine, along with a rocky iodine-like quality I did not find in the Tesson. Chewy and moderately rich, displaying excellent inner-mouth energy. This tactile, slowly mounting wine shows lovely finishing lift without any excess weight. Reminded me a bit of riesling, but not of the bone-dry ilk." - Stephen Tanzer
