Michel Niellon Chassagne Montrachet Maltroie 2010

Michel Niellon Chassagne Montrachet Maltroie 2010

100% Chardonnay. Michel Niellon, who began working with his father Marcel in the 1950's, has crafted more than fifty vintages of extraordinary wines. The father-son team began domaine-bottling in the 1960’s and soon after, their four hectare estate was considered one of the very best in the village. Since 1991, Michel has shared vineyard and winemaking duties with his son-in-law, Michel Coutoux. In fact, Michel Coutoux is routinely producing wines of impressively consistent quality and style. As such, this is a domaine in fine form today, and wine lovers who have fallen out of touch with the wines are advised to reacquaint themselves with this excellent producer.

Tasting Notes
"Pale yellow. Very pure nose combines pear, underripe pineapple and spring flowers lifted by a lemony note. Sweet white peach and floral flavors turn explosive on the back half, saturating the palate with classic minerals, wet stone, flowers and botanical herbs. With its terrific intensity and cut, this really tickles the taste buds on the very long, scented, echoing finish. Very rich and very young: I would not be surprised if it merited an even higher score five years down the road." - Stephen Tanzer
